At SJI International Preschool, bilingual learning is an integral part of our early years experience. Through meaningful interactions, inquiry, play and everyday routines, children develop confidence in using both English and Chinese while building curiosity about the languages, cultures and people around them.
From January 2027, families can choose between two distinct bilingual learning experiences: our established Co-Teaching Bilingual Track and our new Two-Way Immersion Bilingual Track.
Every child's language journey is different. Some children thrive when English and Chinese are naturally woven together throughout the day, while others respond particularly well to being immersed in one language at a time. Our two-track approach gives families greater choice in finding the learning environment that best suits their child's strengths, personality and language journey.
Both tracks share the same inquiry-based approach, exceptional pastoral care and commitment to building strong foundations in English and Chinese. The difference is how children experience the two languages throughout their day.
Our Two Bilingual Tracks
Co-Teaching Bilingual Track
Two Languages. One Classroom.
In our established Co-Teaching Bilingual Track, English and Chinese educators work collaboratively in the same classroom throughout the day.
Both languages are naturally woven into children's learning as they explore, play, communicate and take part in everyday routines. This creates a familiar bilingual environment in which children hear and use English and Chinese throughout their day.

Two-Way Immersion Bilingual Track
Dedicated English and Chinese Learning. One Language Each Day.
Launching in January 2027, our Two-Way Immersion Bilingual Track offers children a different way to experience English and Chinese.
Children experience English and Chinese on alternate days in dedicated language environments, with each day conducted in one language. Rather than repeating the same learning in two languages, complementary inquiry experiences build upon one another throughout the week.
This encourages children to think, communicate and engage naturally in the language of the day, while continuing to experience the play, inquiry, relationships and joyful learning at the heart of SJI International Preschool.

Learning Language Through Everyday Experiences
Young children learn language most naturally when it is meaningful, engaging and connected to what they are doing.
Across both bilingual tracks, English and Chinese come to life through stories, songs and rhymes, imaginative play, movement, conversations, collaborative projects, outdoor exploration, mealtimes and everyday routines. Our educators use visual cues, gestures, real objects and hands-on experiences to help children make connections between language and meaning.
Our bilingual approach is about more than learning words. Through language, literature and cultural experiences, children also begin to encounter different traditions, perspectives and ways of expressing ideas - nurturing curiosity, empathy and respect for others from an early age.

Which Bilingual Track Is Right for My Child?
There is no single bilingual journey that is right for every child.
Our Co-Teaching Bilingual Track may suit children who benefit from experiencing English and Chinese alongside one another throughout the day within one consistent classroom environment.
Our Two-Way Immersion Bilingual Track may suit children who enjoy immersive experiences, adapt confidently to different learning environments and are ready to build greater independence in English and Chinese.
